The Sow’s Ear is proud to stock yarn from Sun Valley Fibers, a local family-owned fiber farm with outstanding yarns. The shop also carries Sun Valley’s Yarn Buddy, a great tool that is best described as a lazy Susan for your yarn. All you need to do is put your yarn cake or center-pull ball on the spindle, and you are ready to knit from the outside strand of yarn. No more tangles, no more balls rolling away, just smooth, effortless knitting or crochet.
Each yarn buddy is handcrafted from reclaimed or sustainably harvested wood — 49 varieties of wood have been used, including more common woods like oak, ash and maple and more exotic varieties like zebrawood, Guyana rosewood and makore. Yarn buddies are made with one, two or three spindles, making them very helpful for stranded knitting projects when multiple strands of yarn are easily tangled.
